Monocryl™ is a synthetic absorbable monofilament surgical suture composed of a copolymer made from 75% glycolide and 25% ε-caprolactone (Poliglecaprone 25). The suture is undyed (natural) or dyed violet with D&C Violet No. 2 to enhance visibility during surgery. It is a monofilament structure, providing smooth passage through tissue with minimal trauma and excellent handling characteristics.
Monocryl™ is absorbable by hydrolysis, resulting in minimal tissue reactivity. The degradation process leads to complete absorption within approximately 91 to 119 days, leaving no residual foreign material in the tissue.
